This is a pedestrian tour of the Arequipa’s downtown that includes a tasting of our national distillate, the PISCO; in addition to other products.

We will start the tour in San Lázaro Neighborhood, which was the first place where the European conquerors settled upon their arrival in the area; then we will walk towards the San Francisco square where we will appreciate the imposing architecture of the church besides knowing the history of the square. Following the tour, we will go to the convent of Santa Catalina and, from the outside, we will talk about its history and architecture; we will arrive at the Plaza de Armas, the most important place in the city, full of history and tradition; we will talk about the Cathedral, the most important religious building in the city; the Portals that surround the square, its history and evolution over the years, as well as its current tourist offer.

 

We will then go then, to the San Camilo Market, perhaps the most beautiful local market in Peru, where we will see different products that are part of the Arequipa’s cuisine, such as tubers, vegetables, different types of meat, etc. Finally, we will go to the Company complex, where we can appreciate the facade of its church and the interior of its ancient cloisters, a very important place in the history of the city.

 

At this point we will taste PISCO and some traditional products; we will talk about the history, importance and characteristics of Pisco, as well as the gastronomy of Arequipa. ï‚·
