Llahuar is a small hamlet located in the less touristic part of the canyon, the route is longer and a bit difficult, but the reward are the hot springs that you will find when you get there. Rustic accommodation located next to the river awaits to welcome us.

Fure is a small almost abandoned village, located 3 hours walk from Llahuar, the hike is spectacular and in the afternoon we can visit the waterfall of more than 60 meters located at 1 hour and a half from the village.

This hike is a very good option to get to know the canyon and to disconnect in nature.

Circuit: Llahuar - Fure - Sangalle

PROGRAM:

​

1st day

  • Early in the morning, departure towards the Colca Valley. 3 hour drive. Breakfast at a local restaurant.

  • Afterwards, departure towards the canyon, the Mirador Cruz del Condor, first part of the canyon, to observe, if the weather conditions allow it, the flight of the condors.

  • Beginning of the hike towards the hamlet of Llahuar where we will have lunch (4 hours of descent and 1 hour more to the hamlet). 1,200 vertical meters.

  • Lunch in Llahuar.

  • Installation in rustic accommodation and afternoon devoted to rest and enjoying the hot springs.

  • Dinner and overnight in Llahuar.

2nd day

  • After breakfast, departure to the village of Fure. We will take a path on the slope of the mountain and climb 400 meters of vertical drop to reach Fure. (3 hours on average).

  • Lunch in Fure.

  • In the afternoon, visit to the Huaruro waterfall, a drop of more than 60 meters, following an extraordinary path. 3 hour back and forth.

  • Dinner and overnight in Fure.

3rd day

  • Departure early to the oasis of Sangalle, we will pass next to the Apacheta viewpoint. After taking the track and finally a descent to the Oasis. (4 hours on average).

  • Arrival in Sangalle around 2 p.m. for lunch. Installation in a rustic bungalow and afternoon devoted to rest and enjoy the swimming pool.

4th day

  • Departure very early in the morning for an ascent of 1200 meters of a vertical drop over a distance of about 4 km to the summit and 1 km more to the village of Cabanaconde.

  • Breakfast in Cabanaconde then return to the village of Chivay.

  • Visit to the thermal baths in the valley.

  • Lunch in Chivay.

  • Back to Arequipa, it only takes 3 hours.
