Arequipa, known as the White City, is the second most important city in the country. The city is located at 2,335 meters above sea level, it's crowned by three mountains that have always influenced the lives of its inhabitants. It has different attractions to visit, the market, museums, old houses, galleries and historical monuments full of history and beauty.

Peruvian gastronomy is well represented in the “picanterías”, they are the traditional restaurants in the city and they are an important part of the tradition of the city.

If you are interested in shopping, Arequipa is considered the capital of alpaca fiber products, the most important factories in the south that process this typical Peruvian material, have their headquarters in our city.

Historical Center

PROGRAM:

  • Visit of the San Camilo Market, one of the most interesting covered markets in Peru where you can observe the wide variety of local products.

  • Visit of the church and the complex of the Society of Jesus, this set consists of a large cloister and the main church built by the Jesuits, both for religious purposes and for housing, it is a representative monument of religious architecture specific to the 17th century.

  • Visit to the Main Square (Plaza de Armas) where the city of Arequipa was founded in 1540, we can also see the city's Cathedral, considered one of the first religious monuments of the 17th century, and the arcade surrounding the square, both built in sillar (ashlar of volcanic origin).

  • Visit of the Convent of Saint Catherine, it is an impressive architectural monument that represents a city in miniature into the Arequipa city. 

But of course during the course we will visit some important buildings and also we will know representative products for the inhabitants of Arequipa like the anise liqueur Najar and the chocolate La Ibérica among others.

We also suggest you eat in a typical restaurant known as Picanteria where you will taste the real local gastronomy.

This tour can be completed with a visit to the countryside of the city.
